Folic acid (also known as vitamin B9 or Bc. The earliest known as vitamin M) is the water-soluble form of vitamin B9. The name of folic acid comes from the Latin folium (meaning the leaves). Was purified from spinach leaves for the first time by Mitchell (H.K. Mitchell, 1941) and colleagues [2], named folic acid [3]. Folic acid, as an important carbon carrier, plays an important role in the synthesis of nucleotides, the re-methylation of homocysteine, and many other important physiological and metabolic functions. Thus folic acid has a particularly important role in rapid cell division and growth processes such as infant development and pregnancy. Folic acid can promote the development of mature cells in the bone marrow mature form of normal red blood cells, so as to avoid bleeding.
The Ministry of Health and the US Centers for Disease Control are given guidance: pregnant women recommended daily intake of 0.4 mg, absolutely can not easily use large doses of folic acid supplements.
